The ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) approach is shaping one of the most significant social and economic transformations of our time. The professional forum organized on the occasion of the Hungarian Science Festival aims to present the future role and impacts of ESG from scientific, educational and practical perspectives. In celebration of the Hungarian Science Festival, the University Research and Innovation Center (EKIK) of Obuda University is organizing a professional lecture for young researchers on scientific communication and the dissemination of research results. The event will present the principles of effective scientific communication, tools for increasing the visibility of research results, and good practices in scientific publishing and results dissemination. The lecture aims to support participants in the effective presentation of their research findings and in developing communication with the scientific community and the wider society.

In 2026 the 21st edition of the AIS (International Symposium on Applied Informatics and Related Areas) conference series will be held in Székesfehérvár. In plenary lectures, section presentations, and poster sessions, researchers and industry experts will discuss tools and methods of applied computer science and information technology, as well as their economic and educational implications. The conference’s primary themes are „real problems” and „applications.” The Alba Regia Faculty of Obuda University, in collaboration with industrial partners from Székesfehérvár, has engaged in a productive partnership over the course of several years. This collaboration has yielded notable success in the realm of technical innovation within the industrial sector. The conference provides a good opportunity for industrial professionals and researchers to think together, present and discuss complex problems, technologies and solutions. Within a wide range of applications, the conference focuses primarily on problems, issues, and tasks in the fields of information technology, IoT (Internet of Things), embedded systems, healthcare and medicine, economics and education, geodesy and geoinformatics systems, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

The primary goal of the ACRSA 2026 professional open day and roundtable discussion is for participants to reach a consensus on how modern remote sensing and geodetic methods can support water retention as well as climate and landscape protection. The event focuses on measurable, spatially interpretable environmental information: the survey, monitoring, and analysis of the surface, relief, soil conditions, water balance, land cover, and the state of the landscape. The aim is not only to present technological possibilities, but also to review how remote sensing, geodesy, photogrammetry, and geoinformatics can be linked to practical tasks in water management, nature conservation, landscape management, and engineering. The event seeks to create professional dialogue between representatives of water management, agriculture, nature conservation, landscape management, engineering design, geodesy, and remote sensing. At the same time, it also provides an opportunity for students to become familiar with the latest challenges of our time, as well as methodological and technical innovations.

This year, for the 21st time, the Ybl Miklós Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering of Obuda University is organizing the conference entitled Scientific Conference on Civil Engineering. This event, which now looks back on more than two decades of history, primarily provides a venue for presentations in the fields of civil engineering, architecture, and earth sciences, but every year related disciplines – such as mathematics, educational sciences, safety and security studies, archaeology – are also represented. The presentations at the event are held in Hungarian and English. Articles based on the presentations are published in the peer-reviewed conference proceedings.

Obuda University Alba Regia Faculty has been participating in the intellectual life of Székesfehérvár for many years. One example of this is the Géza Garai Free University, where university lecturers and experts closely associated with the university give high-level educational and professional lectures. The event is named after Géza Garai, a former outstanding development engineer and then development manager at Videoton, who was not only the boss but also the mentor of several of the faculty’s lecturers.

The John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics is not only a venue for high-quality education, but also a distinguished center for scientific research and innovation. The research groups and research laboratories operating within the faculty work in close connection with the University Research and Innovation Center, promoting interdisciplinary collaborations. Their research activities cover a wide spectrum, including medical informatics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, embedded systems, drone technology, as well as parallel and distributed systems, supplemented by numerous other applied informatics directions. At the event, the research groups operating within the Faculty will briefly present their activities, current results, and the projects open to students.

The climate is changing in ways that are unfavorable for us and from a hydrological perspective, while at the same time we often overuse declining water resources. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the application of wastewater and polluted waters (stormwater, urban runoff) as a potential resource. The focus of the professional presentations is on the latest, innovative technologies in wastewater and sewage sludge treatment: nutrient and energy recovery aligned with the circular economy, as well as the possibilities for reusing treated wastewater to alleviate water stress. The aim of the Conference is to create a bridge between university research bases and industry players, promoting knowledge transfer and practical cooperation.

The Kandó Conference is a professional and scientific forum with a history spanning more than four decades, which will be held for the 42nd time in 2026 by the Kálmán Kandó Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Obuda University. The mission of the conference is to present the latest research, development, and innovation achievements in electrical engineering sciences and related technical fields, as well as to foster the Hungarian technical language and professional culture. Today, the event has become one of the defining meeting places of the domestic electrical engineering community, while also being characterized by an increasingly strong international openness. Building on the growing number of foreign participants and collaborations, the conference also provides opportunities for international scientific dialogue through several English-language sessions. The program places special emphasis on networking among university researchers, industry professionals, development engineers, and young researchers participating in doctoral training, as well as on strengthening knowledge transfer between industry and higher education. The conference provides a forum for presenting the latest research results, innovative technological solutions, and successful industrial collaborations. The abstracts of the presentations and the related scientific publications are published in a conference volume with an ISBN identifier, contributing to the broad dissemination of the results and the preservation of professional knowledge.

The aim of the XIV. Ágoston Trefort Conference is to scientifically discuss the development of vocational education pedagogy, teacher training, engineering pedagogy training, as well as the interrelations of pedagogy in higher education. The conference seeks to provide a forum for presenting research and development results and local innovations that have emerged in recent years in Hungary and in educational systems beyond the borders. Within the framework of our conference program, we offer an opportunity for staff of teacher training institutions at home and abroad to:

• express their views on education, with particular emphasis on the development of vocational education, as well as on current issues affecting teacher training,

• report on their empirical research in the fields of education, vocational education, and teacher training,

• present their educational and technological innovations concerning the possibilities of applying new forms and methods of learning; in vocational education and higher education,

• introduce modern engineering pedagogy methods and educational innovation developments

• and for doctoral students to present their research and development results.

SAASCO Medical Ltd., in collaboration with the John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics of Obuda University, will hold its traditional World Usability Day professional event on 12 November 2026, joining the international series of events. The event focuses on the relationship between usability, safety, and risk management, with particular attention to artificial intelligence-based, digital, and medical device systems. The program examines the design of usability for AI-supported medical devices based on IEC TS 62366-3, the interconnections between cybersecurity and usability, as well as usability and risk issues of AI and ML systems from the perspective of ISO/TS 24971-2. Practical examples will present experiences from usability testing, augmented reality, and digital surgery. The aim of the professional day is to present aspects of safe, effective, and user-centered technological solutions.

The ICCECIP 2026 conference era is characterised by rapid technological development and digitalisation. Artificial intelligence has become an integral part of everyday life and is increasingly integrated into research and innovation. In the development of autonomous systems, digital and materials science research are closely intertwined. Materials scientists manufacture these autonomous vehicles using advanced materials, including shape-memory materials, superconducting materials, high-strength, low-density materials, and composites. The motto is: “State-of-the-Art Technological Solutions in Critical Infrastructure Protection.” The conference’s primary objective is to emphasise the unity of the Central European region and provide a professional forum for researchers worldwide to present their research results to the scientific community and the wider public. Our countries are connected by a shared historical and cultural heritage, as well as by centuries of cooperation that have shaped a standard development trajectory and laid the foundations for future shared goals and collaborations.

The Municipality of Székesfehérvár, in cooperation with Harman Becker Ltd. and the Obuda University Alba Regia Faculty, is organizing the “Junior Engineers Camp – HARMAN Hackathon,” an idea and prototype development competition for teams of secondary school and university students, for the fifth time. The goal of the program is to bring together teams of secondary school and university students from every corner of the country to use their own ideas and imagination to complete the technical challenge announced in the finals within 24 hours, using the tools provided on-site. To apply for the hackathon, applicants must complete a task: they must submit a video of no more than 2 minutes showing how they visualize smart spaces over the next 5 years. To do this, they can choose any space they like—whether it’s a car, home, school, factory, hospital, city, sports or entertainment venue, or even a completely original idea of their own. The program is popular among high school and college students, which is why the organizing partners hold it every year.

After 2025, Obuda University will once again be a co-organizer of the LCA event, which is organized jointly with the LCA Center Association. The aim of the LCA Conference is to provide a forum for the scientific community, industrial stakeholders, policy-makers and sustainability professionals to discuss current issues of the circular economy and the sustainable transition. The conference places particular emphasis on bringing together the results of academic research and the experiences of corporate practice. We particularly welcome the participation of companies, professional organizations, and consultancy firms that are already facing the requirements imposed by new European Union regulations. The central theme of this year’s conference is LCA as a competitive advantage in the regulatory environment and in industry.

The Scientific Student Council of Obuda University is organizing its 64th Scientific Student Conference as part of the Hungarian Science Festival Quality education and the Scientific Student Association (TDK) support the development of student talent. The TDK aims to deepen and expand scientific knowledge related to the mandatory curriculum, encourage scientific self-education, achieve knowledge beyond curricular requirements, foster creativity, and create conditions for student-led scientific activities. It also seeks to engage students in scientific research and ensure professional recognition and dissemination of their individual achievements. Students involved in scientific associations conduct research, the results of which will be presented.

Building on the success of previous years, the Institute of Geoinformatics of Alba Regia Faculty has once again announced its call titled ‚Measure and Show It!’. In this competition, high school teams present their projects, which are evaluated and awarded by companies specializing in geoinformatics. Following the student presentations, invited companies introduce the latest trends in geospatial technologies. On the occasion of GIS Day, the Alba Regia Faculty of Obuda University warmly welcomes teachers and students who are interested in geoinformatics and wish to learn what GIS is and how it may shape the future of our world. GIS Day is an international initiative launched in 1999 by the president of ESRI, and it has since been celebrated annually in November. This year’s event will take place on 18 November. Each venue offers different GIS-related programmes for the participants. The event is free of charge, and all attending students will receive a certificate of participation.

The Keleti Károly Faculty of Business and Management of Obuda University and the Ferenc Jánossy Special College are organizing a mini-symposium presenting the economic research of five young researchers within the framework of the Hungarian Science Festival. The presenters will describe the research questions, applied methods, and results of their work carried out at the faculty and the special college, also addressing their practical significance. The short presentations will be followed by questions and a joint professional discussion. The aim of the event is to support the introduction of young researchers, to familiarize participants with the scientific work conducted at the faculty and the special college, and to encourage students’ interest in research. The program provides an opportunity to share research experiences, receive professional feedback, and establish further collaborations.

The conference organized by the Product Design Institute of the RKK at Obuda University focuses on the relationship between sustainable design and Hungarian object-making traditions. The aim of the event is to create a forum for researchers, educators, designers, industry professionals, and students to present the points of intersection of environmentally conscious material use, circular design, craft heritage, and modern technologies. The conference presentations seek to answer how domestic traditions can become a source of inspiration for the innovative, sustainable product development of the future. The professional program offers an opportunity to become acquainted with scientific results, good practices, and interdisciplinary collaborations, contributing to the strengthening of a responsible and value-creating approach to industrial product and form design.

Cybersecurity is a rapidly evolving, multidisciplinary field in which theoretical research and practical applications are in continuous interaction with one another. The workshop aims to provide a forum for presenting the latest research results, development directions, and educational innovations from various segments of cybersecurity.
The workshop offers an opportunity for faculty and cybersecurity research groups to present their latest results, proven solutions, and to discuss the technical and organizational challenges arising during practical implementation.

At this fifth edition of the Kornél Szilvay Fire Safety Conference, the Donát Bánki Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering at Obuda University focuses the event on the scientific presentations of the doctoral candidates and students who represent the next generation of fire safety engineers. With this event—which has long been a focalpoint of scientific and professional interest—our Faculty provides a platform for scholarly discourse where doctoral research offering solutions to fire safety challenges, as well as student proposals presenting innovative perspectives, can be evaluated. The presenters’ papers will be published in professional publications.

FIKUSZ is an annual conference organised by the Óbuda University – Keleti Faculty of Business and Management for young researchers: advanced Masters Students, PhD Students and young PhDs. The Obuda University Bánki Donát Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering, with the support of the GENE HAAS FOUNDATION, announces the fifth year of its professional competition in 2026, entitled V. Bánki-HAAS National CNC Programming Competition. The aim of the competition is to recognize the work of students studying in hungarian higher education who are interested in computer-aided manufacturing, to build a professional community and, last but not least, to attract the attention of companies and businesses in the field.  The competition consists of several rounds, an online qualifier, a homework assignment and a 3-round competition held with personal participation. In addition to gaining experience and testing themselves, the competing teams also enter the ring for valuable items and other great prizes!

The appearance of Digital Twins in healthcare and medicine dates back to the second half of the 2010s, with perhaps the earliest publication being the paper by Bruynseels K, Santoni de Sio F, van den Hoven J. (2018). A distinction must be made between descriptions of the healthcare concept and publications reporting actual results from Digital Twins that are operationally used in patient care. At present, it appears that the Medical Device Lag is also significant in this area, extending to more than a decade. Information asymmetry is considerable. Among its causes are (research) methodological heterogeneity, terminological uncertainty, the occasional nature of publication formats, and, as a consequence, a lack of information and uncertainty regarding expected outcomes, risks, and costs. In the lectures and workshop, we will review methodological and terminological issues related to Digital Twins and their role in healthcare and medicine, with particular attention to the results of their use, the measurability of these results, and their impact on decision-making.

Obuda University is the legal successor of Budapest Polytechnic, as well as its legal predecessors, Donát Bánki Polytechnic, Kálmán Kandó Polytechnic, and the Polytechnic of Light Industry. By the decision of the Hungarian National Assembly, on the 600th anniversary of the re-establishment of Obuda University, the new Obuda University, carrying forward the spirit of the country’s second university as the legal successor of Budapest Polytechnic, was established! At its meeting on 13 September 2010, the Senate of Obuda University included University Day among the university’s official celebrations in the regulations on “the order of state and university holidays and commemorations”; it is held every year on 23 November to commemorate the date of the university’s founding on 23 November 2009. University Day consists of a central commemoration, during which distinctions are awarded.

At the University Day Celebration, recipients of DHC and Honorary Professor distinctions, and the instructors of Obuda University will deliver their inaugural lectures.
